aurora borealis 极光追寻指南 1

Aurora borealis（极光）

名字来自于希腊(boreas)罗马神话(aurora) 曙光女神。 五颜六色， 绚丽的色彩让所有见过她的人迷恋不已。

伽利略给这种现象取名为 aurora borealis.

在较低纬度的南欧地区极光会显现红色， 所以人们认为极光和战争有关。




在古代斯堪的纳维亚的维京人传统，极光是一个好的迹象， 好兆头， 代表着来年的农作物和渔获的丰收。


挪威人认为极光是神明在跳舞或是老太太在跳舞挥舞白手套。

在芬兰传说里， 极光有着灿烂的颜色就像是 狐火, 极光是狐狸造成的， 他们翻山越岭， 有着漂亮的毛， 极光就是尾巴的狐火。  他们当地人叫 revontulet。

古希腊的探险家还有古罗马就已经有关于极光的记载，Naturales Quaestions

 这本书里提到了，他们给予不同极光形状 不同的称呼。



中世纪欧洲视极光为 神的标志


中国古代在大荒北经记载， “ 人面蛇身， 赤色， 身长千里， 钟山之神也。”
中国古代叫极光为烛龙
